Sweetest Virtual Valentine’s Date

Heart’s Day 2.14.2010

I’m lost for words. But here goes our share of planning and surprising each other.

Icay’s Surprise: What a week, if you knew what happened in between you’ll know this is going to be something different I must say. I decided to push through with the surprising. I have made surprises for Sweetest in the past but I guess this one is going to be unexpected. (And turns out to really be one!) I decided to ask a few friends, (You know who you two are! Plus our household help too. Thank you!) to do the effort of making it possible to have the cake inside the refrigerator in the morning of February 14th. That’s surely going to make his eyes go wide open after just getting up from bed and getting some water to drink. The cake I bought is not what he expects it to be - chocolate mousse, which is our all-time favorite but rather a heart-shaped chocolate cake that had 3 red roses and 3 Hershey’s chocolate kisses on the side and some tag that says “Happy Valentine’s Day!”. I hope you were shocked langga! Haha! You know the meaning attached to it…

Tabby’s Reaction: Well, I was really caught off guard with Sweetest’s suprise. I was totally clueless about it. I never expected to receive something from her on Valentines Day, you know the norm, ONLY men give something on Valentines Day right? So for the record, Danica is the first woman who gave me something on Valentines day. I woke up 9 in the morning and with the usual morning rituals, I opened the fridge to drink and make a bowl of cereal, and there it was, a red, familiar box. I knew it was a cake( was like thinking it was a chocolate mousse cake), but I was wondering who gave it. There was nothing written in the note so I was like asking Mama(Danica’s grandmother) who this cake was from? And she was like saying, who else would it be from? I didn’t know she was conniving with our friends and our maid to secretly suprise me. Well, I must say it went well. I didn’t went online yet to let her know I was suprised coz that would spoil MY suprise for her which will be explained below. :)

Tabby’s Surprise: So this was like in my head weeks ago, on what special gift I would give Sweetest for Valentines day.  I had conceptualized of a lot of surprising tactics in my head and finally decided what to do. To prove to her that I do recall important things she says(but sometimes I admit I’m forgetful) , I was motivated to buy her the book she thought I already forgotten.  Strengths Finder 2.0.  You see, Danica loved to read but she sold her beloved books to come up with some money so that it can somehow augment the expenses needed for her documents going to Las Vegas etc. So I would actually like to see that in her again..to read books that she likes. So, I scoured the internet to find where I could actually get the book and ship it to her address in Las Vegas. I landed on Amazon.com and got a great deal. No second thoughts, I made the payment and tracked the package as to know that that it would be delivered 3-5 business days.  Aside from this surpise, I also came up with another one, which turned out to be what we had a while ago, a “virtual lunch date”. I bought all the significant food we ate when Danica was still here in Cagayan. I bought the steamed fillet fish in soy sauce at gloria maris in ketkai(we had a date there), I also bought her all time favorite baked mac(I love eating baked mac now), cassava cake in Cecil’s(she was the one who introduced it to me for the 1st time  and it’s just irresistably delicious) and was supposed to buy Swiss Miss milk shake but went to SM, Limketkai, Robinsons, Ororama and to some 24-hour convenient stores but there werent available, not even one. But still,  with high hopes to surprise Sweetest, I bought  a red balloon for Yzzy to make her adorable later when I go chatting with Sweetest already. 12noon my time here(8pm Danica’s time), I called her and invited her to our “lunch date”. She was like nervous coz she didn’t know what I prepared for her. When we connected via Skype video call, there she saw, a candlelight lunch table(it was actually Yzzy’s table..hehe:) ) and all of the food I bought properly arranged. Just so to start our lunch date, I called somebody who wanted to greet her Happy Valentines as well - Yzzy in a cute elegant red dress, with a red balloon, very excited to showoff to her mommy the secret plot we have agreed on. :) I sure hope I got my Sweetest surprised. :)

Icay’s Reaction: I was sleeping. My brother woke me up handling me a box. Haha! That didn’t really ring a bell at first coz I was really tucked in bed. And there it lay on my bed for a while since I only opened it AFTER I took a shower! Couldn’t really grasp the thought at that moment really… I then finally opened it, the book I’ve always longed for us both to have. It’s TOM RATH’s STRENGTHS FINDER 2.0… Love it! I know this one is going to be way more than just a book for us. I’ll be writing about every page of it in the next days.

Yes, you see this right. Yzzy wanted to rule the table. She insistently allowed herself to be tucked into into and be moved closer. What a kid! It’s supposed to be Mommy and Daddy’s virtual date my dear :) But we’re still glad you’re here joining us bringing that cute heart shaped balloon with you too and wearing that very red dress. This is actuallyher first time to initiate by herself to hold a spoon and fork like we adults do! *wink* Really thought it was her date!

Tabby had to clean her up and move her to the living room so we could have peace and quiet. :) Now this really made me super hungry! :( I’m a baked-mac-aholic you know! No wonder Yzzy loves to eat them too… Thank you so much for this wonderful surprise Sweetest. I know its tough, and sooner its going to be a bit more. But as wise men say, we shouldn’t dwell more on our relentless focus on each others shortcomings but rather on developing our strengths. No more correcting deficiencies! It’s making the other your better half. More days with you Sweetest… More days…

I was super surprised! :P Yzzy was like walking towards you bringing that red heart-shaped balloon when you called her after your “opening remarks”! Hahaha! Even when she was like months old, she did participate in your plots to surprise me. Never did your tandem fail. And I must agree, you two work great as a team! :D HURRAY! Hehehe… I still remember your surprise to me, having those chocolate kisses on the floor of our house making a trail to the rest room… only to find out there’s a bouquet underneath the shower! And I was like “HEY! The weirdest thing!” And there goes your next clue leading to our room… “After I kissed on the floor you stepped on, and showered you with roses”… where lay Yzzy so quiet there! Hahahah! WITH CAKE SLICES of chocolate mousse! I hope I do remember right the clues langga… Im just reminiscing… You really blow me off my feet EVERY time! :D
