My Karate Kid Story
Movies normally have impacts in our lives. We normally choose which ones we want to implement and which ones to discard. I remember well back when I was in grade school, about the time I started to watch action movies, specifically the Karate Kid, that I wanted to learn karate or any form of martial arts. I told my parents about it but they did not allow me to enrol in such class cause they think I would bully my classmates or worse get into a piss fight with almost anyone. I tried to tell my parents almost over and over as soon as another movie about self defense gets shown on tv or on tape.
As time went by, I was in high school and still those dreams were still lingering in my mind some where. I tried to tell my parents once more and tried to convince them that learning martial arts doesn’t mean I would bully someone in the future but instead its for self defense and proper discipline. I kept trying but to no avail.
Some time high school, my dad was invited by a family friend to enroll in a judo class they just opened. Since it was free, my dad gave in and I was like, dad? Why am I not allowed? It was after college that dad admitted he was wrong about their definition of martial arts and he knew right then it was for self defense. Self defense which almost any girl could use nowadays cause there are just so much violence in the world and most of the women can’t do anything when they reach to that point. I hope I’m not to late to get myself into martial arts class for me and my family’s protection just in case. I might as well have the rest of the family enroll.

It’s a common misconception that martial arts study is for winning a fight and knowing how to brawl.
Don’t worry you can still learn martial arts, good luck1
