Going on a Summer Camping Trip

24 May 2010 No Comment

30 days and counting, it’s nearly summer! Break out the camping tents and away we go. Some people want sunning themselves on beaches, I want spending time in the forests. It’s a great way to pass the time with family and friends. I love camping because of the many memories I spent with my family. I remember one time when we went on a wild life camping with my Dad and male relatives only. We bought only the barest minimum, intending to live off the wild by fishing and foraging. It was so much fun doing a mini hunt with my family. Catching fish with your bare hands, go berry hunting and even learn how to find plants that are edible. Dad taught us and I couldn’t believe he was a wild life expert. I jokingly said, watching National Graphic paid off for him. Not all memories were good by the way, there was a time everyone was cranky after failing to get enough food. I remember my cousins arguing on who should eat first. But thinking back, my dad made everything all right. He ordered us all into our camping tents as punishment, and anyone who came out would eat last. It was funny but we started smelling delicious food that filtered through our camping tents until we couldn’t take it anymore. We came out and my Dad was grinning as he roasted a dozen fish! I dunno how dad caught those fish but it made us laugh at how silly we were arguing over food during a camping trip. We went to sleep in our camping tents with full bellies during that time and learned a valuable lesson at the same time. It was a summer camping that I could never forget. This summer I wonder what memories I’ll get camping out in the wild.
