Yzzy’s Toys in the Eyes of Daddy

22 July 2010 One Comment

My baby who is now practically a running target has several toys. Intentionally, the toys should keep her from playing with what is not supposed to be played with. Children are curious, they play with just about anything! It’s pretty much a good move on my end to keep her busy and at the same time happy during her playtime. She doesn’t have all the time she needs to play with every toy she has! I even have observed that she is a bit picky with the toys she only wants to play with. She’s growing up too fast, but these toys should definitely be there to last.

Most toys are made to be played by children yet for some adults, its a wide variety of collection taking place. I even remember Ninong Gus collecting toys. :)

In this generation, most toys are made with plastics but the wooden toys on my time were the best! Not mentioning that they are the first and oldest kinds of toys. I remember my old rocking wooden horse when I was little just like Yzzy. Mind you, it went a long long way compared to this plastic one.

I know toys come in different sizes, forms and materials. Some wooden toys are educational that have numbers and the alphabet on them, and some toys are intended for different kinds of children activities like playing parlor with dolls or playing soldiers with toy guns. I prefer the educational ones for Yzzy. There are wooden toys and plastic toys that are very tiny like the mini toy soldiers in the movie “Toy Story”, which me and Yzzy hadn’t able to watch.(sigh) - and there are also toys that are very huge and life size like the huggable teddy bears. Yzzy even has a Barney just the size of her!:)

Modern toys nowadays have electric circuits placed on them and most of them are made in plastics because these circuits are not suitable in wooden toys. Although these toys are interactive and sometimes emit lights, produce sounds and can be moved from a distance using remote controls, the question of “Is this child-safe for my baby” always arises. And of course, as a father, I wouldn’t want Yzzy to come across a plastic toy when the material used is hazardous to her. You know a child, everything they see and pick up on the ground, they, if not all the time, always puts it in their mouth. Plastics can be made of harmful chemicals that are deadly for children when ingested!

Hence, toys that are made with plastics have a downside to children. That’s why you really need to be picky on the toys you give to your children. I’m beginning to realize why my mom gives me wooden toys instead. It’s much safer and they are also more durable than plastic. I think I’m gonna buy Yzzy a wooden toy one of these days.

Is that a little giraffe rocker? Its awesome! I think my child would love that. Where did you get it from? I understand the need to keep children preoccupied as to not have them being one giant destructive tornado around the house. I like to provide them with games that make them think or give them little tasks and riddles to tired them out. They’re a handful but they’re well worth it!
